Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Topic: Top Ten Bookish Goals For 2018
1. Go Through My Bookshelves! - So I say this one for multiple reasons. The first being we're moving to a new apartment and it would help if I had less books to pack. Lol. The second being that I know I have some books that quite honestly, I'm probably not going to be reading anytime soon. And I should part with them. I can even take them to a local store and get trade credit for some books I will read. Not a bad deal right? I've already started working on this, and I even found some ARCS from 2012/2013 I'll be giving away to those who want them. :)
2. Backlisted Books - So I've been incredibly bad with buying and collecting books for the past few years but not reading them. One of the challenges I've signed up for is actually to help with this (Beat The Backlist). I'm really hoping I can cut down on the backlisted books I still have to read so I won't feel so bad about buying new books.
3. Scheduling Posts - I used to be good about getting weekly posts scheduled about a month ahead of time (like New Releases, Top Ten Tuesday, Can't Wait Wednesday). As of recently though I've got bad about this. However, I did finally sit down before starting this post and schedule all the new release posts for January. I'm hoping if I block out a day at the beginning of each month, I can just sit down and schedule posts so I have more time throughout the rest of the month for review writing and reading!
4. Read More New Adult/Adult Books - So as you guys know, my blog is primarily focused on Young Adult books. Don't panic! I still love my young adult books even though I'm turning 25 this year. But I have been getting more into New Adult and Adult as I get older as well. So I really want to work on putting some more New Adult and Adult books into my lineup as well.
5. Get More People Signed Up For My Challenge - So for those of you who don't know, I've taken over the Dystopia Reading Challenge this year! I took it over a bit later than most people are used to signing up though. I didn't know Tracy @ Cornerfolds still hadn't found someone to host it until I emailed her on December 31st. So when I found out and offered to take it over it was pretty much January already. Lol. So if any of you have participated before or are interested now, I'd love it if you guys sign up! I've got some fun stuff planned! Here's the link if you wanna read more about it!
6. Chat With More Bloggers - So I used to have a group of bloggers friends I'd always talk to/visit their blogs etc. But most of them stopped blogging now (though we do still talk on Facebook). I'd love to find some new blogs and new blogger friends to follow/chat with! How social the book blogging community is has always been one of my favorite things!
7. Catch Up On NetGalley Books - Guys, I can't even begin to tell you how far behind I am on them! One of my main goals this year is to catch up on my NetGalley books and get my review ratio up to 80%. If I crack down, I know I can do this!
8. Read More - So I tend to only read at night, when I'm tired, or getting tired. So I'm obviously not getting in as much quality reading as I could. A big goal I have is to read more during the day while I'm wide awake. Lol. Even if its just a chapter or two extra on top of my normal night reading, I think it would greatly improve upon my finishing books at a better pace.
9. Go To The Tucson Festival of Books - So for those of you new to my blog. I live in Tucson, AZ. We have the Tucson Festival of Books every March on the University of Arizona campus. So sometimes its hit or miss with the lineups. This year I very much wanna go. In the lineups we have Veronica Roth, Victoria Aveyard, Holly Black, Gloria Chao, Cinda Williams Chima, Melissa Marr, Jessica Spotswood, Kristen Simmons. I very much want to meet a lot of these authors and get stuff signed by them! Maybe even pictures with them as well! This is the first year in about 3 years there has been a great lineup thats made me wanna go. So I'm definitely aiming to go. And seriously, I'd love to catch a panel with Veronica Roth and Victoria Aveyard talking! Can you guys tell I really wanna go??? LOL
10. Read More Books With My Daughter - So this one isn't blogging specific per say. But I definitely wanna read more with my daughter. She loves books just as much as mom and dad and it's such a good way to bond.
It is always a great goal to read more with your kids. How old is she?
ReplyDeleteScheduling posts is so great and yet it can be such a struggle to find the time for it. Good luck with all your goals!
She's 3. She loves picking books out for us to read with her. Right?!? I love that I don't have to worry once they are scheduled, but finding the extra time to schedule them is hard! Good luck with yours as well!!
DeleteGreat list! I should probably go through my bookshelves as well. I'm getting better at doing this though. I'm slowly learning to keep books I truly care about. Here is our Top Ten Tuesday
ReplyDeleteGood luck on all of these! I am also trying to read backlist books this year.
