She spent the summer in The Refuge.
Now, she’s come home.
Within days she realizes:

She wants back in.

Only two things stand in her way. The sister Narissa has protected for years can’t decide if she wants to go with her. And, of course, Narissa has no idea how to return to the splinter reality.

Complicating matters, Narissa discovers she can no longer avoid the problems her unexpected trip allowed her to escape.

Through it all, there’s one thing that keeps her going. She’s not the only person to have left The Refuge.

Review: This book starts up right where Annexed left off, which I really like. We found out who followed Narissa out of The Refuge (which I was right about!!!!). It was Daman!!! EEEPPPP!!! I love how Narissa and Damans relationship took off in Cantrip! Ok, so for those of you who have read Annexed and know how it ended, Yes, they were not talking, kinda mad at each other and all that but why all that happened was explain in the beginning of Cantrip and you totally have to forgive Daman after hearing it! I love how close they got in Cantrip. First of all, I wanna start with how he tries to protect Narissa from her mom while shes protecting her little sister from her mom. Narissa wasn't used to having someone protect her so she had to get used to it, especially since Daman was very persistent about it (along with other things, like helping make money). I was glad Daman was there to protect her especially when her neighbors tried to beat her up (among other things) for something that her mother caused. I disliked her mother a lot by the way. And not to mention during all of the BS they were dealing with, with Narissa's mother they got engaged and married (in Narissa's world, that is). It showed how strong there love is!

While dealing with everything they were also trying to find a way back into The Refuge and Narissa was trying to get her sister to join them. They befriended the boys at the Gateway Ranch I think it was and tried to get them to help. While that didn't give them much information it did help Narissa with something else. She found her father! And in doing that she found out how she ended up being Annexed into The Refuge. I was beyond shocked at her actually finding her father but it answered some questions I had (probably along with others) about her. Now Narissa tried really hard to get her sister to come to The Refuge with her but she didn't want to in the end. At least though her sister ended up in her fathers custody instead of her mothers. Their mom was really bad, I'm sorry but she was. And in the end Narissa and Damon found their way back to The Refuge.

Now, Cantrip wasn't just from Narissa's POV. It was also from Kauri's. While following Narissa and Daman trying to get back to The Refuge we also follow Kauri in The Refuge trying to protect the secret of Narissa and Daman being gone. She made up a story of how they got sick so that they had to be "quarantined." That's pretty good, I probably wouldn't have thought of that. But while dealing with that she also is dealing with the fall out of her marriage with Luke after letting Daman go after Narissa back to Narissas world. Through it all Luke tries so hard to get her back and in the end prevails. So it wasn't just one couple that survived all that happened it was two which made things even better.

5 Stars!
