Hi everyone. As you may have noticed, the Dystopia Reading Challenge has moved to Hope, Faith & Books. When I found out Cornerfolds wasn't going to continue hosting it and was looking for someone else to take it over, I jumped on the chance since it's been a favorite challenge of mine! She's given me permission to use any of the previous graphics (so obviously I kept the cool badges cuz they look awesome!) Also, guidelines, levels, etc. will generally stay the same as previous years.

Now, welcome to the fourth annual dystopia reading challenge! 2018 being my first year hosting it of course though! I'll be hosting some giveaways, three read-a-longs (I'll explain more below), and of course we are still going to earn our fun badges from years past! I'm also going to bring back discussions (I saw people liked that in 2016) in the quarterly updates. The discussions and read-a-longs are not requirements however, just some fun things for anyone who wants to participate!

If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask them in the comments!

THE GUIDELINES
  • This challenge will run from January 1, 2018 - December 31, 2018.
  • You can join at anytime before December 1, 2018.
  • Books must be read and reviewed in 2018 (exceptions will be read-a-long books).
  • Audiobooks, re-reads, short stories, and crossovers are fine.
  • You don't have to be a book blogger to participate! You can track your progress on Goodreads, Shelfari, Booklikes, etc.
  • Sign up below with your post, shelf, etc. and leave a comment letting us know what your personal goal is.
  • Link up your reviews each month on the post we'll provide!

As mentioned, I'll make an exception to the read/reviewed in 2018 for the books we'll do a read-a-long of. Obviously some people might have read/reviewed these books already (in fact, one I'm choosing I've read myself last year). So I think its only fair to allow anyone whose previously read them to be able to submit their reviews along with those the book is new to.

CHALLENGE LEVELS

Read and review 1-5 dystopian books to receive the Recruit badge.

Read and review 6-10 dystopian books to receive the Rebel badge.

Read and review 11-15 dystopian books to receive the Revolutionist badge.

Read and review 16+ dystopian books to receive the Leader badge.

My personal goal will be Leader! Here's my goals post so you can see some of what I'm planning on reading!

UPDATE SCHEDULE:

READ-A-LONG SCHEDULE:

I think its only fair to have a book from the 3 main categories: young adult (YA), new adult (NA) and adult. I know not everyone likes say just young adult, so I think this is a fair compromise.

GIVEAWAY SCHEDULE:
  • December - End of Challenge Giveaway
I might add more, but these are the ones set in stone for now.

WAYS TO EARN EXTRA GIVEAWAY ENTRIES:
  • Answer the quarterly discussion question in your update post
  • Participate in the Read-A-Longs
Since I'm not creative enough to make a fun type of thing like the bingo from last year, I think this is a fair alternative to get extra entries. (If anyone has some fun creative ideas they wanna give me though, I'm all ears, LOL)

MONTHLY LINK-UPS:
Link-Ups will be posted the 5th of each month. The previous months link will be open until the 4th of the next month. I figure this gives a few days leeway to anyone who might have forgot to link something up before the end of previous month. I know we can forget sometimes. :) Though I'd like it if you link things up the month you read it, I'm not gonna be a super stickler about it. If you need to link up a previous months reviews in the current one, go ahead. :)

LISTS TO GET YOU STARTED:

*All links (monthly link-ups, updates, etc.) will be added as the posts go live. :)*

HOW TO SIGN UP:

  • Enter your information in below as follows: Your name @ Your blog name (i.e. Brittani @ Hope, Faith & Books).
  • If you are a blogger, grab the button below, create a blog post or page letting us know you are participating in this challenge and what your personal goal is ― be sure to link back to this post!

  1. Dystopia and I are such a hit or miss that joining a challenge would kill me haha. But I did share your post to my twitter timeline. :)

  2. Great challenge!
Red Queen is one of my favorites. The whole series, really. I'm looking forward to book 4 coming out this year.

My own book doesn't exactly fit the challenge. It's pre-dystopia. I read a bunch of dystopias (and saw movies/ shows), and often found myself wondering what happened just before the story began. So, I combined that with a legend from my tribe and there we go.

    1. So far I'm enjoying Red Queen. Very nice! You know, I often wonder the same thing when reading/watching dystopias! Obviously something had to cause it, but often, we're never completely told what.

  3. I'm in! Thanks for picking up this challenge. I was disappointed when the previous host wasn't continuing it for 2018.

    1. Woot!!! :D No Problem! When I found out no one had picked it up at the end of December I knew I had to! I love Dystopia! Lol. I couldn't let the challenge for my favorite genre die out.

  4. Hi, I didn't know abut this challenge until midway through the year. I had been participating under the previous host and when I learned she wouldn't be hosting this year, I kept tract of my dystopia reads as part of this challenge: http://jannghi.blogspot.com/2018/01/2018-moody-reading-challenge.html

Will you be hosting the dystopia challenge next year? If so, I want to join then.
