Tucson Festival of Books 2014

So this past weekend was the 2014 Tucson Festival of Books! I went and had an absolutely blast! I got to meet some really amazing authors and hear some really awesome panels!

She is awesome! She was so enthusiastic about taking pictures with her fans! I also got to hear her talk in a panel on horror in children and teen books! Fantastic panel!

She is so nice! I very much enjoyed hearing her talk about books and writing! I was very excited when I found out she was going to TFOB!

I was very excited to find out she was going to be at TFOB as well! She signs all the time at a book store in Phoenix but with college I don't have the time to take the 2 hour drive up there during the week. So I was very excited to finally get to meet her and get a book signed by her!!!!! :D She is so nice!

Page read a little bit out of The Beautiful and The Cursed and Aprilynne read a bit from her upcoming novel Sleep No More! They both then answered questions ranging from why they choose to write about what they write about, getting an agent, getting published, editing etc. It was really informative!

The panel entitled Thrills and Chills: Spine-Tingling Tales talked about horror and scary type stories in children and teen books. Despite the fact that the panel was about scary and horror stories, it was actually really upbeat and the author got many laughs out of the audience with their stories!

Review: This book was fantastic! It started pretty much right where A Need So Beautiful left off. But first, only had one complaint about the book. It was that something in the book seemed too predictable. Like I was seriously figuring out everything before it was actually said that it was true. But other than that I loved this book so much! I loved how this one focused a little more on what the Shadows can do! They definitely had a bigger presence in this book, so you really got to see what they were capable of and just how far some of them were willing to go to get what they want. Oh, another thing I liked about this; it took place in Arizona! I always love a book that takes place in the state I live in! I really liked how even though it freaked her out learning about it, that Elise learned about being A Forgotten, and exactly who she was, but also that it was introduced to her slowly and not just thrown on her all at once. She was already on edge because of everything and it helped her deal with it better I think learning about it a little at a time. 

Abe. I could tell something was off about him from the beginning. I was suspecting very early in the book based on how he was acting that he was a Shadow. I just couldn't figure out why he acted differently from other Shadows until his whole wanting Elise for himself thing was out in the open. I can honestly say, I didn't like Abe from the beginning. No matter how many times he tried to sweet talk Elise I just couldn't stand the guy! Now Harlin on the other hand! I was so glad he was brought back for this book! I loved the mutual attraction between him and Elise, even before he knew that she was Charlotte brought back. I also loved how hard Harlin tried to protect Elise! No matter what, he tried to protect her so he wouldn't lose Charlotte again. Elise's sister Lucy... At first I have to say, I really thought she was just a typical rebellious teen with all the sneaking out and stuff. But when certain small things just started happening out of no where I started questioning it. I was just able to guess with those small things that Lucy was A Forgotten too. Though her connection to Harlin I had no idea about. I must say I did like the end, with what happened to Elise. Though I kinda saw it coming, I still enjoyed it none the less! Amazing sequel to A Need So Beautiful!

I really enjoyed A Need So Beautiful! It was so unique and breathtaking and I love the way Suzanne Young writes! I cant wait to see where she takes the story in A Want So Wicked!

Review: This book was so refreshing! It is such a unique, powerful and breathtaking angel book! I literally read this book in an hour and a half because it was so good! I thought the concept of Charlotte's destiny of being Forgotten was so unique! She feels a powerful Need to help people, but this Need will eventually take her from the Earth, without anyone remembering her. So at first I thought the whole Need thing was kinda cool. I mean besides the Need being painful and powerful I thought it was so cool that Charlotte could help people like that. I felt bad for her though because it wasn't just the Need she had to worry about, she learned she was eventually just going to disappear and she slowly had to watch her skin turn gold. Not to mention that whole thing with nobody remembering her once she disappeared.

I felt her pain about wanting to be remembered! If i was going to just disappear I'd want the people I love to remember me! I mean, she had a family, a boyfriend and a best friend that she wanted to remember her. But as her Need grew stronger and her time was running out you could see the people she loved starting to forget her. I seriously wanted to cry with her when she realized people were already forgetting about her. That must have been so hard! And on top of that, right up until the last minute she wasn't even sure she wanted to be like the other Forgotten's, she considered fighting it a lot. She probably made the right decision in the end but I really felt for her. I mean if I knew I was gonna be Forgetten by everyone I loved then I'd really consider fighting it too! This book was just so emotional and breathtaking, it really held you until the last page!
